Viscerox for losing belly fat

visceroxBelly fat is one of those bulges that many people, men and women alike, would like to get rid of. Some nutritional slimming supplements target the abdominal area more specifically, and that’s the case with VISCEROX slimming pills, which we’ve investigated.

Let’s start with some introductions…

Viscerox presentation and promises

Viscerox slimming pills are designed to act specifically on abdominal fat.

Specifically, they target visceral fat, which lies beneath the muscles of the abdomen, entering the vital organs.

According to the manufacturer of Viscerox, the accumulation of belly fat is at the origin of the first disturbances linked to metabolic syndrome (metabolic syndrome is the association of a series of health problems having in common a poor body metabolism).

Firstly, the factor of abdominal overweight seems to have been overestimated, according to research carried out by a Japanese team.

Indeed, this team has studied 140,000 subjects since 1990, and has shown that people who are not abdominally overweight are also prone to metabolic syndrome.

According to the manufacturer, Viscerox is the “1st nutritional supplement to tackle belly fat”..

In terms of dosage, take 3 Viscerox softgels a day with your evening meal.

The Viscerox manufacturer

Viscerox pills are marketed by Super Smart, a European player in the field of dietary supplements.

Super Smart is itself linked to Smart Nutrition Ltd and then to Smart City SA, a Luxembourg company which has been manufacturing and distributing nutritional supplements for over 20 years.

Super Smart has the profile of a reliable and serious company, as shown by the following:

  • Certificates of analysis for ingredients are available on their website;
  • The laboratories are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified and meet ISO 22 000 standards, ensuring maximum product traceability and safety;
  • The site offers secure payment, as well as a toll-free number available from 8.30am to 7pm.

Ingredients in Viscerox pills

Viscrox doesn’t have a dizzying list of ingredients. On the contrary, it is made up of two ingredients:

1. Glycyrrhiza Glabra:

This strange-sounding name is the scientific name for licorice.

Licorice has been known and used for thousands of years in traditional medicine to combat inflammation, digestive disorders, respiratory illnesses and skin diseases, thanks to its anti-inflammatory, expectorant and soothing properties.

A laxative, it also combats constipation.

Licorice contains flavonoids that stimulate fatty acid oxidation, helping to reduce triglyceride levels in the liver and blood.

Its main compound, Glycyrrhizin, is said to increase the circulation of cortisol, which, according to some laboratories, is mainly lodged in the abdominal area.

Re-circulation of this stress-related hormone would enable its elimination, thus reducing belly fat.

Viscerox pills each contain 100mg of Glycyrrhiza Glabra.

2. Glavonoid:

Glavonoid™ is a compound derived from licorice polyphenols, developed by Japanese laboratories Kaneka Corporation.

Its role, increased lipolysis, i.e. fat burning.

Viscerox and science

According to the official website, Viscerox has been the subject of several studies.

Here’s what it says:

Scientific work indicates that Viscerox™ would act by regulating enzymatic pathways in the liver, thus reducing fat storage. Viscerox™ also has antioxidant properties; it reduces oxidation of LDL-cholesterol particles.
¤ Clinical and non-clinical studies have determined that Viscerox™ has an excellent safety profile. The patented licorice root extract has been approved in the US by the FDA as a novel food ingredient.
Visible results are achieved after six to eight weeks of regular supplementation with Viscerox™. This can help maintain an optimal body weight, while promoting healthy fat metabolism, thus playing a significant role in health.
Our research into the scientific studies carried out on the effects of licorice, and a comparison of the results with the texts below, leads us to believe that the manufacturer has adopted the results obtained for licorice, substituting the name of its product, Viscerox, for the results.

As far as scientific research is concerned, we wish to give readers every opportunity to make up their own minds, by comparing the various study results we have found.

To begin with, we’d like to mention these two independent studies (carried out in 2009 and 2011 respectively) which evaluated the effects of licorice root on fat oxidation, on the one hand, and on fat mass, and more specifically on abdominal fat, on the other.

The first study lasted 6 months. Subjects ingested 60mg of licorice root extract daily.

The results showed a 20% reduction in lipid peroxidation, i.e. fat oxidation, which runs counter to the desired effects of weight loss.

The second study compared the effects of licorice on obese people and athletes.

A state of overeating was induced in each group, by means of an additional daily meal.

The results showed no significant effect of licorice on fat mass or visceral fat.

On the other hand, the Kaneka Corporation, which markets GlavonoidTM , presents on its official website a study on the effects of its substance which, on the face of it, gives very different results, namely:

  • Increased lipolysis ;
  • Increased muscle mass ;
  • Reduction in body fat;
  • Increased body temperature (activation of basal metabolism).

(Source: Kaneka.The Dreamology Company. September 27, 2012. Enhancement of lipolysis by single dose of Licorice Glabra Polyphenols Glavonoid™.).

So on the one hand we have independent studies showing no effect linked to licorice supplementation, and on the other a sponsored study showing very positive results. We leave you to make up your own mind…

Viscerox side effects and contraindications

Too high a dose of licorice extract may cause headaches, lethargy, muscle weakness or pain, increased blood pressure, water retention or accelerated potassium loss.

There have even been rare cases of cardiac arrest.

Licorice should not be used continuously for more than 4 to 6 weeks.

According to European regulations, the authorized consumption of flavonoids from Glycyrrhiza Glabra is limited to 120mg per day.

Viscerox contains 100mg, well below the authorized limit.

Testimonials from Viscerox users

There are no testimonials available on the web for this product!

However, we have come across dozens, if not more, testimonials from consumers praising the company’s professionalism and commitment.

If you’ve tried Viscerox, don’t hesitate to share your experience in the comments!

Viscerox price and guarantee

The official website is offering a promotion on the Viscerox bottle, as the product’s expiration date is coming to an end.

With a 50% discount, a bottle of 60 Viscerox softgels, equivalent to a 20-day course of treatment, will cost you 23,50€ instead of 47€.

This expiry date apparently concerns the product’s certificates of analysis, which have to be renewed, hence the need to sell off existing stock. A sort of markdown, if you will!

The site offers a 7-day right of withdrawal, which extends to unopened boxes only.

There is no mention of a money-back guarantee on the site.
