Biocyte Ketoslim DM ingredients

Biocyte Ketoslim DM 4-in-1 weight loss medical device is composed of: glucomannan, KiOnutrime-CsG®, maltodextrin, silicon dioxide, flavoring and sucralose.

The active ingredients are glucomannan and chitosan.

1. Glucomannan:

This is another name given to konjac.

Glucomannan, or rather glucomannans, are fibers that swell on contact with liquid, up to 100 times their dry volume. Once absorbed, glucomannans mix with liquids in the stomach, forming a gel and increasing in volume, which increases the sensation of satiety.

Taken 15 minutes before meals, their action will therefore lead to a reduction in the quantity of food consumed, and therefore a reduction in the calories ingested daily.

Konjac also has a prebiotic action, i.e. it promotes balanced intestinal flora, and regulates blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

2. Kionutrime-CSG® :

This ingredient is derived from chitosan, in this case from a fungus.

KiOnutrime-CsG® is a patented fat catcher that reduces the absorption of fats from the diet and the quantity of calories absorbed.

In the stomach, KiOnutrime-CsG® is protonated (i.e., by adding a proton to its molecule, it is transformed into a conjugated acid) by the naturally present gastric acids, and becomes capable of binding (or capturing) fat molecules, fatty acids and bile salts through an electrostatic reaction. Once in the duodenum, the chitosan-lipid complex is excreted through natural channels, reducing the body’s absorption of lipids.

As mentioned above, KiOnutrime-CsG® is made from 100% plant-based chitosan, without GMOs, allergens or gluten.

It has GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status, and EFSA (the European Food Safety Agency) recognizes this ingredient as a substance helping to maintain LDL cholesterol levels.

3. Maltodextrin:

This is a slow carbohydrate that serves to satiate.

First, let’s talk about konjac and glucomannans.

Although widely studied, this fiber has not benefited from studies carried out with a sufficient number of participants to generalize the results. However, the results are undeniably positive.

An initial study was carried out over a period of 8 weeks as part of a double-blind trial protocol on a population of 20 obese subjects.

The experiment involved administering a daily dose of 1g of glucomannan from konjac roots (divided into two 500mg doses) with 250ml of water one hour before each of three meals. A control group received a placebo.

All participants maintained their normal eating and exercise habits.

Results obtained in the glucomannan group showed an average weight loss of 2.5kg over the eight-week treatment period. The researchers also noted a reduction in cholesterol and lipo-proteins in this group.

No adverse effects were recorded in the volunteers who consumed glucomannan.

We also cite this study which demonstrated that glucomannan/konjac supplementation resulted in significant fat loss in overweight adults.

The aim of this study was to compare changes in body composition and blood chemistry between overweight adult subjects receiving a supplement containing either 3g glucomannan/konjac and 300mg calcium carbonate, and subjects in the second group receiving a placebo containing only 300mg calcium carbonate.

The experiment involved 83 overweight adults (66 women and 17 men) in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial. The experiment lasted 60 days.

The results were as follows: no statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of baseline changes on DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) and blood tests.

However, when subjects were classified as compliant or partially compliant using compliance measures, statistically significant reductions in weight, body fat percentage, fat mass, cholesterol in general and low-density lipoprotein in particular, were recorded in the glucomannan group. As for KiOnutrime-CsG® , a Phase IV study (i.e. a long-term follow-up of a treatment, when it is already approved on the market) has been carried out on this ingredient.

In this study, 96 people took 5 x 500mg capsules of KiOnutrime-CsG® per day.

Results were measured at 45 and 90 days, including body weight, body composition, anthropometric measurements and lipid profile.

At D45, mean weight loss was 1.78kg.

At D90, it was 3.10kg.

A reduction in BMI, body composition and anthropometric measurements was also noted.

Blood lipid levels were unaffected.

The product was well tolerated by all participants.

Following several cases of choking linked to taking konjac in jelly form, the forms currently authorized are capsules, powders and capsules.

In powder form, the mixture with water must be shaken well to prevent the solution from gelling.

The amount of water required to take these capsules is very important, and several health authorities have obliged manufacturers of konjac-based products to clearly state on their products the risk of choking if the product is not taken with a sufficient quantity of water!

Some official health authorities recommend taking any glucomannan product, whether capsule or powder, with a full glass of water, and advise against taking it late in the day.

Of course, we can be wary of the reliability of these reviews.

Other testimonials found on the internet do not consider the product to be effective.

The texture is reportedly rather slimy, yellowish in color, and doesn’t dilute well enough.
