The manufacturer of Maxmedix Matcha green tea pills
These matcha green tea slimming pills come from the Maxmedix brand, part of the wellness product range of French company Vitenza.
Initially a retailer of supplements, cosmetics and natural wellness products, Vitenza later positioned itself as a wholesaler. For over 10 years, it has been supplying a large number of parapharmacies and online boutiques in France and Europe.
The brand’s strength lies in its strict GMO-free manufacturing criteria (products are made in the UK), and its choice of 100% natural, authentic ingredients. The company now owns several brands, including provestra, ProSolution and VigRx, to name but a few.
Ingredients of Maxmedix Matcha green tea pills
Matcha green tea is the unique ingredient in Maxmedix slimming pills.
This variety of tea, known as matcha, usually takes the form of ground green tea powder, which has been crushed between 2 stones.
It contains 2 main ingredients that give it many of its properties:
1. L-Theanine:
L-Theanine is an amino acid found only in green tea and in a mushroom.
Derived from another amino acid, glutamine, L-Theanine therefore has easy access to the brain, reinforcing the power of its action.
L-Theanine reduces mental and physical stress, and has powerful relaxing effects.
What’s the mechanism of action behind these virtues?
Well, L-theanine is thought to promote the production of Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA), and therefore its concentration in the body.
Increased GABA levels in turn boost serotonin and dopamine levels.
Serotonin plays an essential role in regulating appetite and satiety, and dopamine is a hormone with a positive effect on mood and feelings of well-being.
2. Catechins:
Catechins are powerful polyphenols, with an action 25 times stronger than conventional anti-oxidants, vitamin E or vitamin C.
They block the action of free radicals in the body. Catechins are also said to improve insulin sensitivity, increase thermogenesis and fat oxidation, and reduce intra-visceral obesity, notably by modifying fat distribution.
In addition to these 2 active substances, matcha green tea also contains vitamins B1, B3 and C, beta-carotene and minerals.
Matcha green tea and science
There are a number of studies showing the positive effects of green tea on the body, and in particular on weight loss.
Here are just a few examples.
The first study focused on the effect of long-term ingestion of tea catechins on postprandial energy expenditure and dietary fat oxidation.
The study involved a sample of twelve healthy men aged between 27 and 48.
The experiment consisted in administering 350ml/day of a test beverage containing a high dose of catechins (592.9mg) or a low dose of catechins (77.7mg) over a 12-week period.
The results obtained were as follows:
- 4.6% body weight loss ;
- 4.48% waist circumference loss.
The study concluded that the anti-obesity effect of consuming green tea catechins may play an important role in enhancing dietary fat oxidation and increasing thermogenesis.
A second study aimed to determine the effect of consuming catechin-rich green tea extract on reducing body fat and lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease in humans under different life-styles.
The experiment involved 240 subjects (Japanese men and women suffering from visceral obesity).
After a running-in period of 2 weeks, during which the subjects followed a diet, the test consisted of administering green tea containing 583mg of catechins to the first group (catechin group), and 96mg of catechins per day to the second group (control group). The test lasted 12 weeks.
The results obtained were significant weight loss, associated with a significant reduction in BMI, a reduction in waist and waist circumference, as well as in body fat, a reduction in fat in the visceral area, but also a drop in blood pressure and bad cholesterol (LDL).
The researchers concluded that drinking catechin-rich green tea helps reduce obesity and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
A third study carried out at the Shanghai Medical School confirms the green tea benefits already announced.
In this study, healthy adult subjects consumed different quantities of catechins for 12 weeks (458 mg once a day for group I; 234 mg/twice a day for group II; 443 mg/twice a day for group III versus placebo).
Weight, body fat, percentage of intra-abdominal fat and waist circumference were measured at baseline and after 4, 8 and 12 weeks.
The group receiving 443 mg of catechins twice daily not only saw an overall reduction in weight, but also in waist circumference, body fat and intra-abdominal fat distribution.
In conclusion, this study confirms that consumption of two servings of the highly catechin-rich green tea, contributes to improved body composition and reduced abdominal adiposity in moderately overweight Chinese subjects.
Side effects and contraindications
In principle, matcha green tea has no adverse effects on the body.
However, it is not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women.
